| | VMBUS network adapter failed to start (Code 10) Hi Guys. Im my test lab I have a very annoying problem that was initially caused by updating a 2008 Standard Edition runing Hyper-V with Update for Windows Server 2008 x64 Edition (KB950050). Initally the VMs created using the pre release version of hyper V role would not start after the update. I had to follow KB949222 to get the VMs started by removing them, recreating the virtual networks then create the new VM and point to the exisiting saved VHD file. Now on the newly started VMS The VM Bus network adapter does not start with an error code 10. I have tried to reinstall the Intergration services etc cant get the adapter to start. Ive tried various things without success, can anyone help. The Code 10 seems to relate to the driver being installed but cannot run. The problem seems to be with netvsc60.sys version 6.0.6001.17101. thanks for any replies |

| | RE: VMBUS network adapter failed to start (Code 10) I did not remove the pre-release version of hyperV on the 2008 Server Host before applying the update. 950050 update. I dont believe the notes on the 950050 update mentions doing this. Im assuming it was a pre release version on the test server as thats what KB949222 refers to as being the problems with the VMs not starting. Have you any suggestions ? | | Re: VMBUS network adapter failed to start (Code 10) I ran into the same problem when I tried to update my WIndows Server 2008 box to 2008 R2. I think it is related to motherboard drivers not implementing a specific PCI-Express feature. I had other issues with the upgrade and had to reload Windows Server 2008. I would manually seek out the latest motherboard drivers and update them. Same for any other hardware drivers. -- Geoff N.
