Vista - Hyper V Manager without domain?

I just installed Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 and am trying to connect with Hyper-V
manager from a windows 7 box. I don't have AD but both computers are part of
the same workgroup.

I can seem to get connected to the server. I supply
"hyperVServerName\administrator" as the credentials but then the snap in
erros out and says to ensure that the management service is running.

I have enabled MMC Remote mgmt, PowerShell and Server Manager Remote
Management on the server.

Can you manage a hyper v server without a domain?

Yes, you can. Bing or Google "hvremote" and grab the latest version. It has
all the tools to get everything configured to work.

Thanks Charlie. That defintely helps and provides some more tools. Still
having trouble getting the manger connected and am wondering if the fact that
I can't get at the server by name (only IP) is part of the problem.

You are right Charlie. DNS was the issue. I have fixed that and am now working.
