| | Hyper V Manager without domain? I just installed Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 and am trying to connect with Hyper-V manager from a windows 7 box. I don't have AD but both computers are part of the same workgroup. I can seem to get connected to the server. I supply "hyperVServerName\administrator" as the credentials but then the snap in erros out and says to ensure that the management service is running. I have enabled MMC Remote mgmt, PowerShell and Server Manager Remote Management on the server. Can you manage a hyper v server without a domain? Thanks for any tips, Don |

| | Re: Hyper V Manager without domain? Yes, you can. Bing or Google "hvremote" and grab the latest version. It has all the tools to get everything configured to work. -- Charlie. http:/msmvps.com/blogs/xperts64 "dkackman" <dkackman@newsgroup> wrote in message news:3A66EA8E-6C0D-46AD-9972-3C132F819D75@newsgroup Quote: >I just installed Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 and am trying to connect with >Hyper-V > manager from a windows 7 box. | | Re: Hyper V Manager without domain? Thanks Charlie. That defintely helps and provides some more tools. Still having trouble getting the manger connected and am wondering if the fact that I can't get at the server by name (only IP) is part of the problem. | | Re: Hyper V Manager without domain? You are right Charlie. DNS was the issue. I have fixed that and am now working. Thanks for the reference to hvremote. That helped a lot. | | Re: Hyper V Manager without domain? Glad to hear you've got it working. This was all possible without HVRemote, but it was a royal PITA to get it right. -- Charlie. http:/msmvps.com/blogs/xperts64 "dkackman" <dkackman@newsgroup> wrote in message news:E8816A56-B462-403D-8761-41D318820AB5@newsgroup Quote: > You are right Charlie.
