We're running Virtual Server 2005 R2 on Windows Server 2003 SP1. We have 4
virtuals running and 3 of them have had Virtual Machine Additions
successfully installed on them. One of the virtuals indicated that it's
Virtual Machine Additions needed to be updated. I launched the installation
to update them and the installation failed. I used Add/Remove Programs to
uninstall them, rebooted and tried again to install the current version of
Virtual Machine Additions and the installation failed again. When the
installation fails it says, "Setup was interrupted before Virtual Machine
Additions could be completely installed. Virtual Machine Additions was not
installed. To install Virtual Machine Additions, run Setup again." Each
time I re-run setup I receive the same result. In the Application Event Log
Event ID 11708 is recorded the body of which says, "Product: Virtual Machine
Additions - Installation Failed." What's causing this and how do I resolve
it?
