2005 R2 when guest starts the host goes off the network-never seen

I have a dell 2950 host running 2005 virtual server with all windows updates.

I have moved one guest to this new host and when I start it, the host drops
off the network. Never have seen this before. I have 5 other hosts running
    this same setup.

I actualy opened up a ping to the host and the guest from another machine
and exactly when the guest starts, the host stops responding. RDP to the
guest and shut it down and the host comes alive. I though maybe the nic was
corrupted in the config so I created a new one on the new host and connected
the single hard drive and tried again, same result.

Host is 2003 R3 enterprise sp2 with all service packs.

I am tempted to create a guest from scratch to see if it is my guest or the
host but wanted to see if anytone had seen this before.

    TIA for any assistance.

Sounds really strange - are you able to remove the virtual server networks /
reboot / create new ones in VS administrator page ?
