You need to buy it, I don't think it's downloadable. If you're an
enterprise customer, talk to your licensing people.

    Hi DD,

as far as I can remember VDI is a "solution" and not a setup.exe product :-)
All the required features/roles are already builtin into W2K8R2 you just
need to install and configure it. What exaclty are u missing here ?
RD services is here the keyword.

    Hi,
But the web Site it's mentioned VDI Standard suite & Premium Suite, so I
presume that Win 2008 Standard edition may have VDI Standard suite and Win
2008 Enterprise may have VDI premium suite.

Those suites are licensing bundles, no new product is in there, so far as
I'm aware. Read the descriptions, and if you have suitable licensing and
support contracts, you'll be able to get it.

    Re: Microsoft VDI

    Hi DD,

as Charlie alraedy stated you should check your contracts here or better
directly contact your sales rep here - enterprise licensing is nothing for
    "tekkis" ;-)

    >> But the web Site it's mentioned VDI Standard suite & Premium Suite, so I
    >> presume that Win 2008 Standard edition may have VDI Standard suite and
    >> Win 2008 Enterprise may have VDI premium suite
The licensing part sounds like that you need to have at minimum a "Standard
Suite (MDOP)" or "Premium Suite (App-V)" which should cover the different
virtualized client instances. Already read that blog ? ->
    http://blogs.technet.com/virtualizat...DI-Suites.aspx

"....Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is a centralized desktop delivery
solution that enables organizations to store and execute desktop workloads
(OS, apps, data) on virtual machines in the datacenter, and presents the UI
via a remote desktop protocol (such as RDP) to user devices. VDI is not an
isolated architecture, but rather part of an enterprise's cohesive, holistic
virtualization strategy across their IT infrastructure; as such, it supports
    Microsoft's vision of Dynamic IT.
    From MS VDI FAQ ->
