    hyper-v manager rpc error

    Hi all,
    I have a ws08core running hyper-v and win7 pro as managing client. I have
configure both with hvremote but I am getting an RPC error that says it
cannot communicate with the server and tells me to make sure the rpc service
is running. I did check and it is running. Please help.

    Thank you, Dave

This is most likely a firewall issue, or an authentication issue. Try using
the hvremote /show /target commands to get a better idea of what the problem
is. (run the command from both server and client, pointing the target to the
other one to get a lot of detail about what the issue could be.)

i have run the hvremote /show /target on both server and client and every
thing checks out ok. i have turned the firewall off on both server and client
and i still get the error.

Turning off the firewall is generally NOT the way to solve it. Rather, you
need to enable the firewall, and create the rules that allow for the
    required traffic.

I only turned off the firewall to see if that was the problem and it was not.
I have turned it back on.

    Re: hyper-v manager rpc error

    Charlie,
If I run HVRemote.wsf /show /target, on both server and client, and it
reports no errors or warning what am I missing? I have read many articles
about running Hyper-V on server 2008 R2 core and using Win7 to manage it but
none of them say anything about RPC. So what am I missing here?

    Thanks, Dave

    Re: hyper-v manager rpc error

I'm sorry, but I don't see how you could get a clean report from hvremote
and still have an RPC error. Just doesn't compute. And I don't have any way
to replicate here, since I don't have a pure hyper-v server setup.
