Last year I had to merge/delete another avhd and I remember the free disk
space kept getting smaller and the file kept getting bigger.
I had plently of free diskspace then and I don't remember how big it got
before removing the avhd files.
It definitely use some extra disk space but I'm not sure how much, I don't
want to run out disk space and freeze all the other VMs.
