| | Editing the Hosts File Despite following the suggestion in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923947 , I am still getting the message: Cannot create the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file. Make sure that the path and file name are correct. when trying to save a modified hosts file. I am running an updated Vista Home machine with one user account. Has anybody any further suggestions, please? |

| | Re: Editing the Hosts File Hello, Kerry Thank you for your reply. None really - I have Zone Alarm, AVG, Spybot and Windows Defender, but when I disable them all (following your prompting), I get the same result. I would, however, like to point out that I haven't really got to grips with the Windows file security / authorization regime, so it could be something very silly and / or very simple.
