| | How Do You Enable Administrator in Home Basic I've been able to do this fine in Ultimate, but need to stay with Home Basic on my HP laptop because the laptop has figerprint reader and Ultimate will not allow upgrade. In Ultimate I can right click on My Computer and enable the administrator account in users and groups. Vista Home Basic does not have this feature. TIA |

| | Re: How Do You Enable Administrator in Home Basic Hal Go to Start and type cmd.exe In the results, right click cmd.exe and select the Run As Administrator option. In the command window, type the following command. net user administrator /active:yes Press Enter This will enable the built-in administrator account. If this si the first time you have used this account, you should create a password for the account in Control Panel/User Accounts. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "Hal" <hal2die4@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:Xns99EC4EB84399EHal@xxxxxx Quote: > I've been able to do this fine in Ultimate, but need to stay with Home > Basic on my HP laptop because the laptop has figerprint reader and > Ultimate > will not allow upgrade. > > In Ultimate I can right click on My Computer and enable the administrator > account in users and groups.
