Unable to Install Downloads & Write Permission Question

Can anyone help resolve this? I'm running Vista Ultimate on a 73GB SCSI
HardDrive w/ 50 GB still free. I downloaded MSFT's SteadyState 2.5 beta and
two other utilities. All three use Windows Installer. None offer the option
of installing as "Administrator". When I right click to "Install", I get the
message: "The Temp Folder is on a drive that is full or is inaccesible. Free
up space on the drive or verify that you have write permission on the Temp
Folder". Obviously the HD has plenty of space. How do I fix this or get
"write permission on the Temp folder" so I can get these utilities installed?

Hi Thomas,

This looks like this is the same as in this tutorial.

Re: Unable to Install Downloads & Write Permission Question

Many Thanks. I use MSFT's 1,527-page "Vista Resource Kit" book. On this
point it was confusing because whether UAC was disabled or not, I STILL got
(and still get) : "Internet Protected Mode: OFF" no matter what I do. This
still has me stymied.

Thomas,

If you have UAC turned on, then you should be able to have "Protected Mode: ON".
Did you already check in Internet Explorer?
1. Click Tools -> Internet Options
2. Click Security tab
3. Check "Enable Protected Mode....."
4. Click OK, and close and reopen Internet Explorer.

This may also be a related issue with the SteadyState 2.5 beta. I looked at their support forum and have not seen anything that is the same, but you might post this question there to. Maybe someone else using this program is having the same problem.

Windows SteadyState 2.5 beta - Community forum to provide a place for announcements, questions and discussions about Windows SteadyState.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
