| | password problems I just purchases a used hp laptop with windows vista home premium. When I turn it on it wants a paasword from a user named gary. I am unable to get the the password from previous owner. How do I get by this ? I can't get to the desktop until I get passed this . Any suggestions from anyone -- kosmo |

This may be a set of restore CDs/DVDs or a restore partition etc see the documentation that came with the laptop. If the previous owner installed Windows Vista then he MUST have given you the media used and product activation key otherwise you are not actually licensed for the OS on that laptop - in which case go buy your own copy and reinstall. -- Mike Brannigan |

Any suggestions from anyone -- kosmo In addition to Mike Brannigan's solution, try method two in this tutorial to see if you can reset the password for the user account "gary". Method three will show you how create a boot disk that will reset it. Reset User Account Password Hope this helps, Shawn |
