| | Stuck on User Account screen in Vista I loaded Vista Ultimate over XP about a week ago. It hasn't been pretty since. Today, however, it started getting worse and worse. It booted fine; I logged into my user account; my home page popped up, but then I could do nothing. No apps would run, including Ctrl Alt Del. I was able to do a System Restore back to a few days ago when it ran. Now, it boots up ok; gets to the screen with the User Account icons; I click on an icon (any one of them); it starts to work, then it pops up the same screen with the User Account icons again! I've tried to reload the software from the CD, but it won't let me. I'm not the smartest guy about this stuff. I don't know how to proceed if I can't even log in, though! Any help? Thanks much. Tom -- Tom Can you boot from the Vista installation DVD? If so, this tutorial will show you how to do a clean install with a upgrade version of Vista. This way you will not have any XP remnants messing Vista up. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/68...l-upgrade.html Shawn |
