Vista Product Key Probldems

Last week I tried to get some drivers off the Windows Vista Home Basic 32
from the from my desktop and installing them on my LapTop that came with
pre-installed, without thinking I regestered the computer, now MS wont accept
the code that came with the laptop, is there anything but buy a new code, I
became totally disabled after a freak accident in 2006 so I dont have much
money to spending on trying to buy a new code

Hi Brian,

As long as the product key number is installed on only one computer, you will just have to do a phone activation. This tutorial will show you how to do a phone activation.

Activate Vista by Phone

Re: Vista Product Key Probldems

if you registered w/ the oem key that came pre-installed on your computer, by just activating online, thats the key you installed with. as he said, there is NO problem doing a phone activation if all is legit. also, you could download one of the many vista key finders off the internet, like the "Magical JellyBean Key Finder" Magical Jelly Bean Software - Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder v1.5 as long as it is for your own use and used for legitimate purposes. then you could read the oem key your pc came with and still have your key taken off the COA on the exterior of your pc.

also, here is an interesting thread from another forum, It discusses retrieving the key and registration information if your pc did come with an oem vista installation. Then for a clean install, all you have to do i click on a "restore" file and your key and activation information is reinstalled on your PC and you don't have to activate through MS ever again. But this must be only used for your persoal PC and for legetitimate purposes. It was written for HP laptops, but it is very generic and anyone should be able to figure out ho to use the very fine, ABR tool the thread originator developed.

Brink, was there some reason you deleted my response?? I didn't post anything illegal or immoral

if these folks don't know about vista keyfinders like the jellybean, what's the harm posting in a thread when it is NOT ILLEGAL to use or download.

if you didn't like my response, you could have at least sent me a pm and advised why.........

Hi Nobscot,

Your post is here.

The first few posts a new member posts is put into a temporary holding area for approval. It may have taken a bit longer than usual for one us moderators to approve it with the holidays and all, sorry. I wasn't up as late last night as usual either. It was a busy day. Do not worry, we would not delete a post for something like that.

Hope you have a great holiday,
Shawn
