Vista password

I bought a Windows Vista Home Premuim maching in August of 2007. I never set
a password. I just rebooted, and cannot log in because my "password is not
correct."

How can I reset the password? (I never created the password re-set disk,
because I didn't set a password.) Right now I have a boat anchor under my
desk, running Vista that won't let me into my computer.

Hi OutOfLuck,

Since you do not have a password, you should be able to just click on it without entering anything in the password box. Check these items:

Is this a BIOS logon screen or Vista logon screen?

Did you try to setup a automatic logon at one time? If so, see the Warning and NOTE for step 8:

Logon Automatically


This will show you how to reset the password if the above did not help.

I am in the same situation. I purchased a Windows Vista Home Basic Version
OEM product and I am being asked for a password that I don't recall creating.

Where is this password coming from? Did installing Vista trigger my OS to
produce this password? Any help is appreciated. I am locked out of using this
computer otherwise.
