Rename user profile

My new laptop failed to reboot after the local IT guy unsuccessfully tried to
install a printer driver. I had a Microsoft agent reinstall Windows Vista.
He also managed to save my data, but now the computer refers to everything as
Noname. I renamed the user account, but that didn't change the profile name.
I added a new administrator account to get around the problem of not being
able to rename the profile while the account was open, but that's didn't
solve the problem. Is ere a straightforward way to change the profile name.

Re: Rename user profile

Unfortunately, no. Once the profile folder is created, you're stuck with
it. You could create a new logon with a name you prefer and use the
EasyTransfer tool to move files, documents and settings to the new profile,
then delete the old one.

Re: Rename user profile

1. Delete or rename the profile folder under the users profile folder location
2. locate the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

and remove the subkey that contains the reference to the profile in question

3. reboot and login as the user this will create a new profile instance
