| vista Ultimate | Accidentally disabled Admin and now I am stuck I accidentally disabled the Admin check box and now with my ID as being a Standard User I cannot even install or remove any old items on my install. Please help. This is a terrible waste of time for many people. XP was never like this... I was only messing around with testing what one button does... I have tried everything from turning off UAC, registry fix... but all said: "ACCESS DENIED"... what to do now??? I cannot undo nor reinstall everything again. this is clearly crazy |

| vista home premium 64bit | Re: Accidentally disabled Admin and now I am stuck This will reveal my ignorance, so be kind. I am unable to run programs like ICQ and another one I need to work from home when necessary, it keeps telling me I have to be the Administrator, but I AM the Administrator. I've even set up a new account but it still won't run. I called E-machines, who referred me to MSN, who told me it isn't their problem...which I don't understand how he could tell since he obviously was in India or somewhere in that region and could barely speak English. Anyway, I was wondering if the problem might be because I am using a trial version of Vista that came with the E-machine? Does anyone know?? I was perfectly happy with my XP until my husband tried to increase the memory by adding a board that was too big and blew the motherboard...God love him! Any help is appreciated!! |

| | Re: Accidentally disabled Admin and now I am stuck Right-click your programs shortcut and "Run as administrator" Or better ... In the preferences of your shortcut, mark the "Run as Administrator". Normally you will run programs as standard user, even though you are sat up as Admin - but when it is nescersary for a program to be run by an Admin, it tells you. There are some other ways to get rid of the problem, but they include security riscs. -- BirgerH "mimiof11" wrote: Quote: > > This will reveal my ignorance, so be kind.
