| Guest | Administrator Rights? Hi I am running Vista Beta2 and I am the only user of this computer and, as such, I am an Administrator. So I should have full rights? I installed Motorola Phone Tools v4.0 and after installation, I clicked on the "Update" to check for updates. I then got the following message: Update Error: You do not have administrator rights. Please contact the system administrator to perform an update. As stated above, I thought that as administrator, I had all rights but obviously not. I can update eveything else on the computer, including windows, pc-cillin, windows defender, media player, so why can't I update phone tools? Can anyone offer advice on how to get the rights I need to have full control of the computer, including updating Phone Tools? Regards Dave |

| Guest | Re: Administrator Rights? Hello, In Windows Vista, even though you are running as an administrator, the programs you run only run with standard user rights, unless they ask you for permission or you explicitly give them permission by right-clicking them and clicking Run As Administrator. This sounds like the program you are using expects you to be an administrator, and is not vista-ready because it does not automatically prompt you for permission. In order for it to work as expected, you will need to right-click it and click Run As Administrator. - JB Vista Support FAQ http://www.jimmah.com/vista/ |

| Guest | RE: Administrator Rights? I have the same program Dave...You can also right click and change it to xp compatibility and run as administrator...there are very few updates to the program anyways....
