| Newbie | Vista Home Premium - Single User Profile - "user profile cannot be loaded" Hi all. I am running Vista Home Premium in a Dell Dimension Desktop which is about 6 months old. Right from the beginning, we have only ever had one user name to log into the pc. Out of the blue after not having anyother problems before , today , I tried to log in and got the message "The user Profile Service service failed the logon. User Profile cannot be loaded" I have tried to look up on this to sort it out , but all of the solutions involve logging in under a different admin name - but we do not have one. The other solution method I have found is to press F8 when he computer boots up - but this doesn't take me to any menus on my computer. My options are to press F2 For Setup Menu and F12 for Boot Menu F2 takes me to a bios screen , and F12 gives me the following options : Normal Bootable Hard Drive On-board CDROM Drive System Setup Hard Drive Diagnostics Boot To Utility Partition I thought there might be a way for me to do what I need to do by booting in cmd prompt or msdos? But I cannot find a way to boot into it. I can't even find a way to go into safe mode ( assuming I could get into safe mode? ) Can somebody please help me. Many thanks Tch8102 |

| Linux4Seniors | Re: Vista Home Premium - Single User Profile - "user profile cannot be loaded" F8 results in my case that I can choose from which disk to start and not the Vista save mode. (pressing F8 every second as soon as you start to boot). First it costs me a day to get an internet connection (NIC driver problem). After logging out I have now the problem too "user profile cannot be loaded" So, how can I solve easily this trivial login problem? |

| Administrator | Re: Vista Home Premium - Single User Profile - "user profile cannot be loaded" Yes I have read this before I mailed this forum, but I can't login via F8 and the alternative (clean install) is for me on this moment a very bad solution (I upgraded from XP). What I still can do is this Startup Repair - Vista Forums (boot from CD and repair your computer (startup repair). Wouter Are you able to use System Restore, from Option Two in this tutorial, to select a restore point dated before this problem? System Restore - How to If all else fails, then this tutorial will show you how to do a clean install with a Upgrade version of Vista. Clean Install From Upgrade Vista Hope this helps, Shawn |
