User account control with multiple users

When using user account control, how do I allow certain programs to be run by
other users on my computer without them having my administrator password?

Re: User account control with multiple users

Set them up a Standard User Acct. Control Panel, (classic view) User Accounts. You do have to be logged on as Admin. Then you would have to do it thru PERMISSIONS. I'm trying to figure out how to do it. Maybe someone else can help? Try Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Shared Folders? Try This Tutorial

Which programs?

Any program that requires administrative privileges to operate can only be
run from within an administrative account or a Standard account using the
administrators credentials. This is because that program has global access
to restricted components in Vista.

Denying a standard user access to a program that requires this type of
global access to the system is the main function of UAC. If you override
this security, you defeat the whole purpose of UAC.

The first question you need to ask yourself is "Does this program really
need complete, system wide access"? If the answer is No, then you need to go
to the maker of that program and ask if an update is available that makes
the program compatible with Vista.
