Vista - Bypass account question at start up

I would like to bypass the start up question where windows asks me whether I
want to log in as administrator or guest. I am the only person who uses my
computer so I dont need this function. Is there a way to have my computer
bypass this at start up and go straight to my account without having to log
on?
Better still I dont need accounts at all. I just want to turn the computer
on and have it go straight to my desktop.

This will show you how to set Vista to logon automatically to a selected user account at startup and go to it's desktop.

You can do that by:
go to start menu>run
type:control userpasswords2

In the window opened, you check the box: Users might use username etc..
When checked, mark the user you want (administrator), uncheck the box again
and choose "Confirm". In the "Automatic LogOn" box you write your password
(twice) and "OK".
Then "OK" again - restart and your computer logs in automatic.

BirgerH I am just about to post another question although before I do I just
thought I would run it by you first.
When I shut down my computer I press the start button, then on the right
there are 3 buttons, one which looks like a circle with a line through the
top, a padlock and then an arrow which points to the right. To shut down I
have to first click on the arrow and then from the menu I click shut down. Is
it possible to set the Circle icon with the line through the top of it to
perform this funtion. What I mean I want to set up the computer so that when
I want to shut down the computer all I have to do is click on this circle
icon and the computer shuts down. At the moment if I click on this icon the
computer goes into sleep mode.

computer into Sleep mode. Perform the following.

Control Panel / Power Options.
Under the selected Preferred Plan, click Change Plan Settings.
On the next screen, click Change Advanced Power Settings.

Expand Start Menu Poser Button.
Click the Settings drop down menu.
Click Shutdown.

Apply / OK.

This setting will turn the Start Menu Power Button to a Red color. It will
