| | Shut down When I shut down my computer I press the start button, then on the right there are 3 buttons, one which looks like a circle with a line through the top, a padlock and then an arrow which points to the right. To shut down I have to first click on the arrow and then from the menu I click shut down. Is it possible to set the Circle icon with the line through the top of it to perform this funtion. What I mean I want to set up the computer so that when I want to shut down the computer all I have to do is click on this circle icon and the computer shuts down. At the moment if I click on this icon the computer goes into sleep mode. Once again thanks for your time. Jimmy |

| | RE: Shut down Hi Jimmy, To change the action of the default shutdown option on the start menu, do the following. Open 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and sound', 'Power options'. Click 'Change plan settings' under the selected option. Click 'Change advanced power settings'. Expand the 'Power buttons and lid' option. Open the 'Start menu power button'. The current option is usually 'Sleep', but if you click on this, you can change it to what you like from 'Sleep', 'Hibernate' and 'Shut down'. As 'Shut down' is the option you require, select that. Click 'OK' and close all other windows. If you click on your start menu, you will find the shutdown option is now what you require.
