| | Permissions For some reason, Vista Home Premium is telling me I need permission to make changes. I set this laptop with only one user...me. Am I missing something. How do I change permissions so that I have full administrative control over everything? Thanks |

| Windows 7 RC | Re: Permissions What you're running into is the UAC (user account control). This is a security feature of Vista to stop malicious code from executing. It is not recommended that you disable the UAC. If, however, you are comfortable with disabling a major security feature in Vista, then read this tutorial: User Account Control (UAC) Hope this is helpful to you. |

| | RE: Permissions Does it say "Windows needs your permission to continue" with "Continue" and "Cancel" buttons, or does it ask for a username and password? If it is asking for a username and password, it probably means that your user account is not set up as an administrative user. There are actually lots of good reasons to not run as an administrator (for one, it makes it much harder for viruses to infect your computer). But, if you're willing to take the risk of running as an administrator, open the Start menu, type in "User accounts", and press Enter. Click on the link "Change your account type" and select "Administrator". "ark6154" wrote: Quote: > For some reason, Vista Home Premium is telling me I need permission to make > changes. | | RE: Permissions I only have 1 account on my laptop and it says I'm the administrator but I still get messages every so often that says I need administrative permission to do things. Any ideas why and how to get full control?
