| | Directory Access denied while Adminstrator Hello I'm the only user and Administrator of my PC. My account is a administrator type. There are some directories that I cannot get access like c:\Documents & Settings. There is a small arrow on the directory icon. I have moved some of my directories like Documents, Image, Music,.. on a separate HD. Is it the reason ? How to solve it ? Thanks for your help. Bernard |

| | Re: Directory Access denied while Adminstrator Bernard What appears to be the 'Documents and Settings' is not a real folder, it is a Junction or Symbolic Link and is only there for one purpose and that is to redirect older applications, that are looking for this folder, to the new location in Vista. The new location in Vista is C:\Users. There are many other junction points in Vista. Here are a couple of websites that explain exactly what these folders are and list of the new locations in Vista. Why do I get an Access Denied error when trying to open a folder?: http://www.jimmah.com/vista/Security/junctions.aspx Svrops.com - Windows Vista Junction Points: http://www.svrops.com/svrops/articles/jpoints.htm -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "Bernard" <Bernard@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:EEF5722E-096A-4582-8C5D-EDF5AEB6EE17@xxxxxx Quote: > Hello > I'm the only user and Administrator of my PC. > My account is a administrator type. > There are some directories that I cannot get access like > c:\Documents & Settings. > There is a small arrow on the directory icon. > I have moved some of my directories like Documents, Image, Music,.. on a > separate HD. > Is it the reason ? > How to solve it ? > Thanks for your help. > Bernard |
