| | Parental Time Controls for Internet Access Hi, just trying to figure out if vista has time controls for internet access? I put on the parental controls, but did not realise that it restricted access to the whole computer and not just the internet. This would be very useful, as I don't mind the use of the computer for homework etc. but not the use of the internet when I am not there. Can anyone help? -- Thanks dollydc |

Under Parental Controls heading, click ON ( a blue dot will appear ).Under Windows Settings heading, you can decide which web sites ( if any ) you allow, how much time can be spent with the computer etc, etc. After you have made all the restrictions, click OK. Please reply if this answered your request. PS. I'm confused. Parental Controls DO NOT " restrict access to the whole computer", as you stated. It can't, at least not how I understand it. | | Re: Parental Time Controls for Internet Access Hi David, Not really what I was looking for - I had already done those things, but the time restrictions are for the whole computer and not just internet access. As parents of a teenager it is everyone's nightmare in today's environment to have your kids use the internet when you are not there! I would like my daughter to be able to use the computer, but only have internet access at certain times. Perhaps this software is not available, but I don't understand why not. Hope you can help -- Thanks dollydc "davidjchuang" wrote: Quote: > > dollydc;674074 Wrote: Quote: > > Hi, just trying to figure out if vista has time controls for internet > > access? > > I put on the parental controls, but did not realise that it restricted > > access to the whole computer and not just the internet. However, may I suggest a way to work around it. How about select 1 or 2 websites you trust and put them on the ALLOW list. Meaning your children can ONLY log on to those sites, no where else, plus the time limit to the whole computer. It's not perfect. Close enough ? You indicated you know how to set up the controls, so I won't bore you with details. I'd like to hear from you whether it works for you or not. Thank you. |
