I installed an vista business version 23 bit on a P4 3.06 Ghz pc with 2GB
ram with evga gt6200le graphics. it was successfully installed and running at a decent speed. However when I tried joining to the domain, I got error: network's administrator, notify the administrator that you received this information, which has been recorded in the file C:\Windows\debug\dcdiag.txt. The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate an Active Directory Domain Controller for domain abcsys.local: The error was: "DNS name does not exist." (error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR) The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.abcsys.local Common causes of this error include the following: - The DNS SRV records required to locate a AD DC for the domain are not registered in DNS. These records are registered with a DNS server automatically when a AD DC is added to a domain. They are updated by the AD DC at set intervals. This computer is configured to use DNS servers with the following IP addresses: 129.168.123.193 129.168.123.254 129.168.123.191 - One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child zone: abcsys.local local .. (the root zone) For information about correcting this problem, click Help. |

strange but I got it after
1. adding a local admin account with the same name and password with the domain admin ID 2. the domain server still can not see any shares 3. checked sharing on c: and attempted to make c$ accessible by administrators 4 vista complained about c$ already shared, 5 tried again joining the domain and failed for wizard as well as manual one 6 checked shares form server and found c$ etc on the pc 7. tried joining the domain manually by specifying abc instead of abc.local it worked at this point the abc.local does have an abbreviation as abc.
