| | RE: remote desktop Remote desktop connections do not require a static address. You can obtain the IP address by typing ipconfig /all at a command prompt and use this address. Is the pc behind a router, if so you will need to configure your router to allow remote connections and setup forwarding. If both are on the same switch and the user is allowed to make connections, then there should be no problem.
