Vista - Admin Accounts

Well lets just say that vista is getting annoying in this regard,
presently i am testing the x64 version of Vista(RC1), and the
account that you make @ installation should be the admin account
right? wrong, you can view all the processes in teh task manager, u
cant login in Safe Mode, but strangely i could make a new account,
an admin account and from that I could do everything, was quite
weird actually, and this happedned on teh x86 PreRC1 release too,
so dont know if this is an isolated problem or just my fault but it
happened twice so just thought id post.

Hey there Jerry,

Actually you are half right: The account you create on installation IS an
admin account. However Microsoft has built in a lot of safeguards, such as
every time you try to perform an administrative task it wants you to confirm
it. As well it runs some programs in a reduced rights mode for security. If
you want to runt them in full admin mode you have to right-click on them and
click 'Run as Administrator'.

My problem is accessing the Documents and Settings Folder under the C:
drive. Needless to say it says I need admin rights. Any way to access
this...

Hello,

Documents and Settings has been removed from Windows Vista. What used to be
the Documents and Settings folder is now the Users folder.

What you are seeing that says "Documents and Settings" is actually an
application-compatability mechanism built into Vista to allow older programs
to still work when accessing the old folder structure that Windows XP used.

The simple fact over here is that the moment a machine is joined to the
domain, your Administrator(default) accounts gets locked out. So any user has
to create a new Administrator Account before joining the machine to the
domain.....
