Are you running Vista x64 Home Basic or Home Premium?

Re: IE 7 will not retain my 'connect' password.

Hi,
No, I hadn't ,but now having done so I regret I am none the wiser.

It seems I am being told to:

1. Create a user and password on the machine where the share resided
exactly
matching the Vista machine.

I haven't got a clue as to what that means or how to go about actioning
it.

The following suggestion leaves me feeling just as stupid --It says:

2. Create a batch file which can be run from startup if you like with
this
command
Quote:

>net use \\servername\sharename /USER:username-on-server password
I take it I enter the above line after >Start --cmd <?

Would that return the automatic login facility with which to connect to
my ISP?

Sorry about my lack of knowledge on this subject !
Can you give me some help as to how to action either of the above?

Re: IE 7 will not retain my 'connect' password.

Let me put it more plainly: You cannot cache (save) such credentials
(connection password) in Vista Home versions. To save the password, you'd
have to jump through one of the two hoops cited by GTS in post #4 of this
thread:
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...3642c1e7f04dea

Or you can upgrade to a more feature-rich version of Vista.

[No, I cannot help you with those workarounds.]
