Vista - New User Account with limited functions

My girlfriend's old user account (Vista Home Premium) got corrupted so we
created a new one by copying the files over from the old, which worked up to
a point. She now has the following problems (not a complete list):

Can't read photo jpeg files off a CD
Can't create new IE Favourites (although the old list copied over OK)
Network and Sharing Centre icon is a red cross over 2 screens (rather than a
globe over 2 screens)

Any of this sound familiar - are these problems related and what can we do
about them?

Help much appreciated.
