Computer Wakes Up From Hibernation

Hi,

I'm running Vista Business SP1 for the first time on a desktop and I set up
the Power Options according to KB929658 (The Hibernate option is not
available in Windows Vista). Hibernate is working fine, but the computer
later wakes up seemingly without any action on my part. Now, I have the same
settings on two laptops both running Windows Vista Ultimate SP1. Is there a
difference in that respect between Business and Ultimate or is there
something else that may be set one way on my Business configuration and
another on my Ultimate configurations that I'm not aware of?

Thanks

Re: Computer Wakes Up From Hibernation

your first step is to discover why the computer woke up.

in a command prompt type
powercfg -lastwake

the report will tell you what caused the last wakeup and you can go from
there to turn that source off.

The most likely reason is a LAN card that does not have "wake-on-LAN"
deselected. Look at the LAN card properties.

Re: Computer Wakes Up From Hibernation

Thank you, Jay. I changed the settings and I'll see if it makes any difference.

Re: Computer Wakes Up From Hibernation

Thank you, Michael. I tried that and it gave me a count of 0. Is this count
only since the last reboot?
