Re: administrator issue

That's strange, it shouldn't if you booted from the DVD.

Well, other than a clean reinstall, you can do a Repair (upgrade) install to try and fix the problem.

Repair Install For Vista

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: administrator issue

Well, since nothing seems to work for you Robin, I would say there is nothing to do but a clean reinstall.

RE: administrator issue

Looks like you've lost administrative control. Reinstall Vista. When you set
up Vista again, write down the administrator password that you use to
establish the administrator acount. Create a standard user account and use
that standard user account for your everyday use. If a program or operation
asks for administrator password while you are in standard user account, use
the password that you established during reinstall.

Lastly, stay away from Geek Squad. 5% of Geek Squad is competent. The rest
are not.

Best of luck...

Re: administrator issue

I've LOST control of my own computer, my children, and my cat just disappeared.... CRAP! I don't know how to do a clean reinstall! I'm an artist, all these admin issues are overwhelming me, I'm not a tech head! I have a reinstall DVD (Vista came on the DELL) I've tried to uninstall programs I thought may be causing this and every freakin thing I want to do requires admin authorization, which I cannot give cuz the password is no good!!!!!!!

Re: administrator issue

I'm sorry to hear this, it sounds like you are having a rough time. It will be ok though. Everything will work itself out soon enough.

This link will show you how to use the Dell Recovery DVD to restore back to factory settings (Clean install). You will just need to boot from the Dell Vista Recovery DVD or partition. This will help you with the rest.

Dell - Technical Support

Now, cheer up. It will be fixed for you soon after.

Re: administrator issue

Hello MMobley,

Have you already tried the suggestions in this tutorial posted above? It usually will help fix this error.

The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
