Kk here's my problem, I'm very anal about keeping my laptop up to date so I check for updates once a week or so. Everything runs fine up until this point. It says I have updates so I click "Install Updates" (this is in Windows Update program btw) and then it tells me I must have Administration Privileges to do so. Is there a way to fix this cuz I'm at a loss here. I'm pritty good about basic knowlage on computers and then some but everything I've tried hasn't worked so far. And if I get one of these answer's from ya I'll freak! lol
"In Windows Vista, even though you are an administrator, only programs
that ask for your permission ("Windows needs your permission to
continue") are allowed to use your admin power."
I'm already aware of this and that dumb pop-up of Continue doesn't bother me and that's not what I'm talkin about. So far I have tried searching in start menu for Windows Update program right click run as admin and no go. Then I right clicked went into properties found my account (which is the created from scratch admin account when you 1st buy the darn thing) had no "Full Control" so I gave myself, from the unlocked original admin, Full Control and still no go. I also went into properties went to the "Compatablity" tab and everything is greyed out and I have no way to select a thing in there. Doesn't give me the option to or allow it. I've seriously ran out of options, I don't want to have to reformat (that's liket he last thing on my list of things to do) considering I have so much on here I'll have to re install and stuff I'll lose. Firefox bookmarks etc., that I dont' want to spend time backing up cuz in the end I always forget something. Isn't there a way to fix all this in the registry? My friend did it for me way back at one point and time and it worked for a while but then set it self back some how. And I hate switching back and forth just to do my updates. Seriously no one should have to put up with this crap. Sorry for the ongoing explination. Thanks for the help in advance. (btw would like to point out I think Microsoft needs to look into this problem a bit more considering there are so many pple having the same issue, it's obviously a OS malfuntion in the software and has nothing to do with the programs pple are running)
