Win98se network password

Have a network between Win98se and Vista machines. Can access the Win 98
from vista but no the Vista from Win98se.

When clicking on the vista network icon in the Win98se I get a request for a
password!

Is this a password in Win98se or in Vista?

How can I recover the password?

Thanks

Gary

if your trying to access vista shared on win98 and its prompting for a password it will be asking asking for the vista password. usualy youll need to enter the machine name followed buy the account name and password which has access to the share ie

username: [machine name]\[your account]
password: password

just found this which may be of interest http://www.vistax64.com/vista-networking-sharing/93283-problems-sharing-files-between-vista-windows-98-a.html

Re: Win98se network password

Have found in other groups that Win98se can not connect to Vista as
Microsoft did not allow for this!

Thanks any way.

Gary
