| | Re: Moving Outlook Express mail folders to another computer OK, here goes... If you are running XP at the mo, you need to follow this path (substitute username with your username obviously) assuming its the C: drive you have installed windows on... C:\Documents and Settings\username\local settings\Application Data\Identities\{computer generated sequence of numbers and letters here}\microsoft\ In this you will find a folder called Outlook Express (to find this path you need to enable hidden files and folders to be visible). Copy the complete folder onto a CD. Once Your new pc is up and running, open Windows mail (vista) or Outlook Express (XP and previous), and click the File menu, then point the mouse to import and choose messages. You will get a pop up window asking where to import from and you need to choose outlook express 6 and import form an OE6 store directory. Then point the browse button to the CD containing the copied folder, and click the folder once then click select folder. If you want everything including folder structure then choose All folders. In Win Mail it will appear once imported below the main mail boxes installed by the OS under a folder named Imported Folder. In XP it integrates the inbox with the stored inbox but adds in both cases the seperate folders you may have created to store mail. Sorry its long winded, but it does work! Also if you have any errors in the old outlook express database it will find them for you and repair or remove damaged messages that cant be imported - leaving you with a nice sparkly mail program ![]() "RJ" <RJ@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:59D60B09-3B78-4F79-B505-74178BAC9F9C@microsoft.com... > How do i move my OE folder Structure to my new PC? |
