Adding domain member to local admin group

I am trying to add a NT domain member to the local admin group. It promps me
to enter the network password of an account that has permissions for the
domain. I have done this many times in XP but when I try it in vista, it
says "Login Failure: unknown user name or bad password".

I initially had trouble joining the NT domain, but fixed this by adjusting
the NT Lan Manager Authentication Level.

Also, I can add users from a 2003 AD domain but not a NT domain.

RE: Adding domain member to local admin group

I fixed this myself. For others who want to know, go to a command prompt
(Run as administrator) and entering the following command.

Net localgroup administrators /add DomainName\UserName

Re: Adding domain member to local admin group

Great tip: I just added my domain account as local administrator and bingo I
have the admin priveleges.

Then I noticed that by default domain admins were also assigned as local
administrator. ( I run small business server R2 +ISA )
So instead I added my domain account to the DOMAIN ADMIN user group.
