Re: Screen Saver

Hi Bill

"Does not work" covers a lot of territory? Can you be a bit more specific
and tell us exactly what is happening?
Are these the standard screen savers that came with Vista? Which version of
Vista did you install?
Do you have the Aero features enabled?

Re: Screen Saver

Hi Ronnie
I have a new Acer T180 running Vista Home Premimim
I don't know if I have Aero enabled as I dont know how to do that.
By not working I mean if the computer is left for a length of time up to 3
hours then the screen saver does not cut in and my desk top is displayed
Thanks for your help Bill

Re: Screen Saver

Bill

Sorry for the delay.

Try this: Open Taskmanager/Processes Tab and look for the ehtray.exe
process. If it is there, right click this process and select End Process
from the menu. Test the screen saver again.

If no joy, take a look at the following articles and try the fixes there.

The screen saver does not work when you use a Microsoft wireless pointing
device:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911895

The screen saver does not start after you install the Wireless Optical
Desktop device:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913405

Re: Screen Saver

Thank you so much for this information, I have been nearly tearing my hair
out to find a solution to what seemed to be such a simple problem. Have done
as suggested and will now test my screen saver, which has never activated
since I purchased my new PC with Vista Home Premium pre-installed last month.

Cheers Diane

Re: Screen Saver

Ed

This is a configuration error message usually initiated by Norton Internet
Security. I don't have any other information except that it is probably a
setting in the Norton Firewall. You need to contact Norton support to
resolve this.

Re: Screen Saver

My screensaver is fine, but on my last computer (XP) I was able to use my
pics from Kodak Share as the screen saver. I would love to be able to do
that again, am on Vista now, any suggestions? Thanks, Patricia

Re: Screen Saver

Patricia

Open Control Panel and go to Personalization/Screen Saver. Use the drop down
menu to select Photos. Click the Settings Button, click teh Browse Button
and select the folder where the pictures are located. You can also select
the speed and theme for the display in that dialog box. Click Apply/OK.

Re: Screen Saver

-- Ronnie,
I followed your directions with the Task Manager, and voila my screen saver
is working. I don't know much about computers and I was frustrated because
my beautiful screen saver of my daughter's wedding worked fine in XP. I also
rebooted after I changed things.....Thank you, thank you!
