| | Vista locking network account Our network has an Account lockout policy of 6 incorrect tries before the account is locked out. I have two machines I use on the network. One a box that I dual boot between XP (Primary) and vista ultimate(<- I'm evaluating), the second an XP SP2 box that I use to connect to remote database via Remote Desktop. In addition to the account lockout policy, all of our machines will automatically lock the desktop if the machine is idle for 15 minutes. The network is running Windows 2000 advanced Server on the PDC with Active Directory. Here's my issue: When working in my Vista install, If I'm logged into my remote XP machine via RDC and the screen locks because of inactivity, Vista somehow locks my network account. Even though there have been no incorrect login attempts. When I come back to the machine to continue my session, Vista informs me that the account is locked. I then have to log onto the pdc and unlock the account through Active Directory. This issue does not occur when booted into the primary XP OS on my main machine. I don't know if it is an issue with cached credentials, or some difference in authentication schemes that is charging my network account with multiple login attempts when I attempt to reconnect. Can anyone point me in the right directions with this? |

Lockout problem solved: This issue was between Outlook 2007 and our network DC. Our office uses a hosted Exchange provider. Outlook 2007 assumed that my email account credentials were the same as my network credentials. Each time I synchronized my inbox, Outlook was sending my email account credentials to our PDC. It was this behavior that was violating the account password/ lockout policy on our PDC. Once we figured out that it was Outlook 2007, we were able to correct the issue. So if you run into the same thing, check Outlook 2007. |

What option in Outlook 2007 must i tweak to prevent it from sending my credentials to the DC? |
