| | Re: What happened to "all users" in Vista? Kerry Sorry, I should have mentioned that Program Data is a hidden folder. Click the Organize drop down menu and select Folder and search options/View Tab. Slect to show Hidden Files and Folders there. You will need to exit and then restart Windows Explorer to see the change. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "kerry" <kerry@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F3F29C78-8242-4343-B582-4FD80584787B@microsoft.com... > OK, I am not seeing C:\Program Data on my C: drive, any ideas? | | Re: What happened to "all users" in Vista? Hello, Parts of All Users exist at c:\programdata and parts exist at c:\users\public. Open an elevated cmd prompt. change directory to c:\users and run dir /a. This will show the folders as well as the junction points and Symbolic Links. This shows a symbolic link for All Users pointing to c:\programdata Example: Directory of C:\Users 05/01/2007 03:10 PM <DIR> . 05/01/2007 03:10 PM <DIR> .. >11/02/2006 06:01 AM <SYMLINKD> All Users [C:\ProgramData] 04/27/2007 03:00 PM <DIR> darrell 03/10/2007 04:00 AM <DIR> Default 11/02/2006 06:01 AM <JUNCTION> Default User [C:\Users\Default] 11/02/2006 05:51 AM 174 desktop.ini 03/10/2007 04:00 AM <DIR> Public Now go to c:\programdata You will see Junction Points pointing back to c:\users\public for certain locations Directory of C:\ProgramData 05/03/2007 10:00 AM <DIR> . 05/03/2007 10:00 AM <DIR> .. 11/02/2006 06:01 AM <JUNCTION> Application Data [C:\ProgramData] >11/02/2006 06:01 AM <JUNCTION> Desktop [C:\Users\Public\Desktop] >11/02/2006 06:01 AM <JUNCTION> Documents [C:\Users\Public\Documents] >11/02/2006 06:01 AM <JUNCTION> Favorites [C:\Users\Public\Favorites] 03/10/2007 04:00 AM <DIR> Microsoft 04/11/2007 03:01 AM <DIR> Microsoft Help 05/01/2007 07:41 PM 156,447 ntuser.pol 11/02/2006 06:01 AM <JUNCTION> Start Menu [C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu] 11/02/2006 06:01 AM <JUNCTION> Templates [C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Templates] Thanks, Darrell Gorter[MSFT] This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights -------------------- |>From: "Ronnie Vernon MVP" <rv@invalid.org> |>References: <EF169522-7B3D-4D46-8C22-877864FDDABA@microsoft.com> <9BF4C936-7498-4223-B7D4-AC4B47347D0B@microsoft.com> <F3F29C78-8242-4343-B582-4FD80584787B@microsoft.com> |>In-Reply-To: <F3F29C78-8242-4343-B582-4FD80584787B@microsoft.com> |>Subject: Re: What happened to "all users" in Vista? |>Date: Thu, 3 May 2007 09:11:40 -0700 |>Lines: 44 |>Message-ID: <E74E7B72-78D8-4069-9833-C30257819126@microsoft.com> |>MIME-Version: 1.0 |>Content-Type: text/plain; |> format=flowed; |> charset="Utf-8"; |> reply-type=original |>Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit |>X-Priority: 3 |>X-MSMail-Priority: Normal |>X-Newsreader: Microsoft Windows Mail 6.0.6000.16386 |>X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.0.6000.16386 |>X-MS-CommunityGroup-PostID: {E74E7B72-78D8-4069-9833-C30257819126} |>X-MS-CommunityGroup-ThreadID: EF169522-7B3D-4D46-8C22-877864FDDABA |>X-MS-CommunityGroup-ParentID: F3F29C78-8242-4343-B582-4FD80584787B |>Newsgroups: microsoft.public.windows.vista.administration_accounts_passwords |>Path: TK2MSFTNGHUB02.phx.gbl |>Xref: TK2MSFTNGHUB02.phx.gbl microsoft.public.windows.vista.administration_accounts_passwords:2638 |>NNTP-Posting-Host: TK2MSFTNGHUB02.phx.gbl 127.0.0.1 |>X-Tomcat-NG: microsoft.public.windows.vista.administration_accounts_passwords |> |>Kerry |> |>Sorry, I should have mentioned that Program Data is a hidden folder.
