Fix for Folder View settings problem

Windows Explorer folder view settings will not remember your settings. EX: Details instead of Large icons, etc.......

Go to this link for full details on how to reset it and allow your settings to start to be remembered again.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Updated to include remembering Windows last closed size to reopen to.

Unfortunately, this simply resets the displays to their defaults, at which
point you have to create your customizations again. What is worse, you
might have to do this several times a day.

I've simply given up. I use the folder templates, which appear to remember
their views, but customizing the view of a single folder is wasted time
because that view will be changed by Vista the next time the wind shifts
direction.

Re: Fix for Folder View settings problem

Hi David,

Yes, it resets the views. However, the key part in helping Vista remember the display settings is increasing the cache size from 5000 to 20000. (5mb to 20mb) It should help. Has it forgotten it again on yours after applying this solution?

Regards,
Shawn
