| | Re: Trouble Disabling User Account Control OP did not state (or I missed it) what the operating system is. In Vista Home I am pretty sure gpedit and secpol are not available. Michael "P. | | Re: Trouble Disabling User Account Control John If you are using the Home Basic or Home Premium version of Vista, these 2 versions do have the GPEdit.msc or SecPol.msc utilities. If you are in an office, network environment, it may also be that the system administrator has disabled these programs. If you are using a standalone system and are logged on with an Administrator account, you can disable UAC in Control Panel/User Accounts or using the Msconfig component. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "John B" <JohnB@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6EC8D0D2-BACE-4713-AD8E-6540E1944785@microsoft.com... > When I go to Start, all programs, accessories, clicked run, typed > secpol.msc > in the open text box and i got this box denying the access and and it > reads > that Windows cann't find 'secpol.msn' the Admin/local users isn't set up > in > our office so I should have access to diable my UAC correct.
