Backing up data to a Network

I have tried to back up some files to a MSHOME network. The files I want to
back up are on a PC running Vista Home Premium. I can see the folders I want
to back up to on my other PC, which is running Windows XP, but when I try to
do the backup, I get the following error message:
No mapping between account names and security ID's was done (0x80070534).

How do I do this mapping?

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Backing up data to a Network

You first need to make sure you have covered all of the network basics. Are
all PCs in the same workgroup? Do you have matching accounts on both PCs?
Have you turned on network discovery/sharing on the Vista PC? Have you
shared a drive/folder on the Vista PC? Mave you mapped a drive from the XP
PC to the Vista PC (not necessarily required but that's what I do when
backing up files on a regular basis).

If you have done all of that and still get that message, post back.
