| | Windows Vista to XP I am not sure if this is the proper place to post this question, but, I want to know this. I have 2 computers -- one a laptop (with XP Pro) and the other a PC (with Ultimate Vista). The laptop does not work anymore. Can I reformat my PC's hard drive and install Windows XP using the re-installation CD for my laptop? |

| | Re: Windows Vista to XP That depends. If Windows XP is retail yes. You can transfer/reinstall the retail license all you want as long as it is only installed on one computer at a time. If windows XP is OEM, probably not. Generally with OEM, the license is permanently tied to the original computer regardless the condition of the computer. One of the many reasons you paid less for OEM than retail. Read the license agreement for more details. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "sahara" <sahara@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:107D3CFA-D2F3-4387-B81A-5FF5AF1DBF14@microsoft.com... >I am not sure if this is the proper place to post this question, but, >I want > to know this.
