Vista - hp photosmart 7550

i have a hp photosmart 7550 and have recently upgraded to windows vista x86
i have tha orignal driver cd and have attempted to install it's drivers but
neither they or the ones avalible from hp's website seem to be compatiple
with vista
vista is capable of detecting the printer on startup and if the driver cd is
in the drive attemptes to install unsecussufully
windows however does recgonize the card reader integreated into the printer
as a seprate hardware item
is there a alternate driver that may be used for this model printer

and than it crashed

i had the same problem. I've tried to install the drivers of the HP 990C and
the printer works now.

however, a lot of the functions you still can't use...

I've already wrote a message to HP for a better sollution, but didn't give
me any answer yet.

Hi,
HP responded to my inquiry about a Photosmart 7450.
Seems they don't have Vista drivers yet. And(here's the part that got me);
they WON'T; until Vista is finally released!!!!
I pointed out that ALOT of people are using Vista now;beta or not; and
the response I received was;
OH WELL;tough luck;we're not going to have driver's till it's finally
released.
So;my brother got an HP printer-for free-and I just went out and bought
an Epson-that IS Vista compatable!!!!

Looks like the PhotoSmart people are pretty smart ;-)

yes well thanks i have installed it as a 990c and am looking on instaling the
drivers manually wich looks like it may work it's the install not the drivers
that won't work
