admin passwords

Hi..I set up my daughter's lap top a couple of months ago, created her user
account, and set up the parental controls under the administrator. I had to
go back n recently as administrator, and seemed to have forgotten the
password. I also cound't find where I had written it down for safe keeping...

Is there any way short of deinstalling and reinstalling Vista, to log in and
create a new password for the administrator?

Thank you to anyone that can help.

There is a program that supposedly resets your administrator password
for you, called 'ophcrack'. I can not say whether it is legitimate, or
whether it works. Only that most password reset programs designed for
XP do not work on Vista.

Re: admin passwords

The best method I have found is the following software. You can install the
product on any
computer, create a boot CD, DVD, floppy disk, or USB stick and then take
that boot disk to your PC and run it. When you boot from the disk, it has
very easy instructions to find and remove the password on any account on the
system.
