desktop should be the administrator not the laptop

My laptop has windows vista, my husbands PC just has XP. His computer was
here first, I got the laptop for school. We got wireless for the laptop and
set the PC up to be the administrator, but it has switched and now my laptop
is set up as the administrator. Why or how would this happen? We can't
figure out how it got switched. Now my husband can't do anthing with his PC
because it might mess up my laptop. Any ideas? Any help will be appreciated.

Re: desktop should be the administrator not the laptop

administrator is a user account and/or account status on a computer, not
a computer role.

both machines will have administrator accounts!

unless one of you is purposefully controlling the other pc its
illogical either of you would do damage to the other, and given your
knowledge of the situation it is pretty safe to say you aint doing
this.

what it sounds like has happened is maybe on the xp machine you're
running a user account with standard user credentials. go into control
panel/user accounts and change they account type. if you find you can't
it maybe necessary to boot into safe mode to run as administrator
(assuming your on xp home and you don't know what the administrator
account is named) and change the state of the xp accounts from within
there - to get to safe mode press F8 on after restarting your machine
and befroe the "knight rider" splash screen pops up.
