installing with winzip and into chosen folders...

I am running into permission problems when trying to install a zip file
running winzip into a chosen folder. Keep getting access denied. What is up
with that? It is my computer and I choose to install into a folder of my
choice. -irish

RE: installing with winzip and into chosen folders...

Some Vista folder aren't writeable even for Administrators group. Those
folders are mostly system folders. For example, you don't have write
permission for the Windows Sidebar folder.
I don't know where are you trying to extract those .zip files, but you could
write here so I can check where's the problem.

RE: installing with winzip and into chosen folders...

I am downloading Photoshop brushes in .zip format and attempting to install
into C:\Program files\Adobe\Photoshop CS3\Presets\brushes folder. I have
specified this folder in Winzip and the application displays Access denied
when attempting to extract the files into this folder. A workaround I have
been using is to extract all of the files in the zip onto the desktop and
then copying and pasting all of the .abr files into the previous listed
folder. Since most Photoshop brush creators zip many files into one zip it is
becoming a pain to do this procedure over and over.-irish

RE: installing with winzip and into chosen folders...

What NTFS permissions do you have on that folder?

RE: installing with winzip and into chosen folders...

I have clicked on the Adobe folder and then right clicked it and clicked on
permissions and have set it to full access by "creator/owner"-irish

I suggest creating a new subdirectory(then your will be the
creator/owner) and extract the files into it.
