| | CMD Language Usage for Vista I am trying to run an ipconfig /release /renew and Vista says that I must use elevated credentials. I have already corrected gpedit.exe to run without elevating credentials for administrators. Can someone please let me know what the work around for this is? Thank you for your help, |

| | Re: CMD Language Usage for Vista Michael, Why do you have to do a run as when you are logged on as an administrator? Clicking on the Orb/Start key then typing cmd in the search box takes me straight to the command line, it does not give me any options to choose from as you wrote. Thanks again, "Michael" wrote: Quote: > Kenny > Another victim of computerspeak ![]() > > The Blue circle with the windows flag in it at the lower left of the screen. > Called start orb (at least by some) because it is an orb and when you hover > the sursor over it is says start. > > Michael > > "Kenny - MCP,MCDST,MCSA" <KennyMCPMCDSTMCSA@xxxxxx> wrote > in message news:5686E2D2-06F3-4F31-8615-298A16535066@xxxxxx Quote: > > Michael. > > > > What does start orb mean? | | Re: CMD Language Usage for Vista Running cmd with elevated privileges allows the user to do dangerous thing to the system you can mess up such that you need to reinstall. Because it is so dangerous Vista requires the user to explicitly request the elevation of privileges. Don't hit the Carriage return after typing in cmd Instead right click on the highlighted cmd.exe line under the first section titled Programs. It is here that you have the option to run elevated. The second line in the fly out from right clicking will have a shield and say 'Run as Administrator' left click that. You will be asked to confirm you want to do this. Continue. Cmd will now run with elevated privileges.
