Vista - Are there supposed to be duplicate users in advance security setti

Exactly what the subject line asks. This is from file properties, the
security tab, clicking the advance button under the security tab, and then
that box displaying the users and their file/folder permissions. I think it's
odd that there's a duplicate user (everything is the same except for
permission rights).
Well, my main problem is that I don't like the thought of there being
duplicate users with different permissions, because it might be the reason
I'm having permission problems with lots of folders I previously had
permission to with this account. And I'm the administrator too, and I tried
logging in as admin and it still doesn't work. Even tried using cmd prompt to
take ownership back somehow. I don't know if it's the duplicate user thing or
not. So I just need to know if there is supposed to be duplicate users. If
you have an answer for my main problem, also post the solution up. Thanks.

The same user may be granted multiple sets of rights. The results can become
confusing because of the rules involved in overlapping/conflicting rights.
For instance a user may be granted full rights over a particular folder but
within that folder that user may have been denied certain rights for a
particular file. In general deny takes precedence but it can get confusing
(at least to me) very fast.
Viewing the result of combining rights is the purpose of the Effective
Permission tab, and it is sometimes surprising if you have been playing
around in permissions!

So it is not that there are duplicate users, it is that a user has multiple
sets of rights.
