    Manage Account Screen Blank

I set up a user account for my daughter, but now we need to delete it.
However, it does not appear in the MANAGE ACCOUNTS screen. In fact, the box
where accounts should appear is utterly blank.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks . . . Steve

Not sure if it makes much difference, but try opening local users and groups
in the mmc console by adding the appropriate snapin. See if this one is
    blank also.

Sam: Unfortunately, that doesn't help. When I tried to load the LOCAL USERS
AND GROUPS snapin, I received a message stating that it wasn't available for
Vista Home Basic. So near, yet so far!

I have Vista Home Premium and I have the exact same issue.
I have searched everywhere for an answer to this with no luck.
    Please help anybody...
I have not yet tried using the command line "net" commands.
I hope I don't have to resort to that.

    RE: Manage Account Screen Blank

I have resolved the issue by restoring back to a previous saved version of
the registry/system settings. This "System Restore Tool" tool is available
in Vista and runs automatically and the process was very easy. It seemed
safe enough becuse it promises not to touch any of your personal files.

I restored back to the time right before I transferred files (using the easy
transfer cable) from my XP professional machine. Something must have
transferred over that messed up Vista "user wise"...? OR possibly I
installed something between then and now that messed it up...

Bottom line you can try this - it fixed the problem for me.

100% same problem, but last recovery point is 2 days ago, and I don't know
for how long I've already got this problem. Is there any solution out there,
or do I have to reinstall Vista?!

You aren't limited to using the latest restore point. There should be
    several restore points available.

Go to the following website for the complete instructions on using system
    restore.

How to use System Restore in Windows Vista::
