Windows Explorer - Selecting Files

Helllo,

since I have installed Vista Business I can only select 1 file or folder in
the Explorer. How can I select more files in right pane?

best regards

Re: Windows Explorer - Selecting Files

Do the usual methods of CTRL+CLICK not work, or dragging a selection rectangle around the file you want to select? Pressing CTRL+A will select all files.

There's another way:
  • Click Organize -> Folder And Search Options
  • Click the View tab
  • Scroll the Advanced Settings list to show the Use Check boxes to select items. Click the box to place a checkmark in that option.
  • Click OK
Now, whenever you mouse-over an item in Windows Explorer, you'll see a check box appear. Clicking that check box allows you to select/unselect files with ease. It's so easy in fact, that I'm surprised that the option is turned off by default!

Hope that helps.

It's a quirk of Explorer that's been showing up on some people's machines.
No known cause yet, but it gets saved with folder views once it happens.

I've written a script that helps MOST people with the multi-select problem.
It will remove single-select from saved folder views & saved defaults.
Right-click the link below & select 'Save Target As..."

Then extract the contents of the .zip file & run the script.

Re: Windows Explorer - Selecting Files

Thanks for your replay - but that does not work too. I get the columns with
the checkboxes but in that case too I can select only 1 file at a time.

I have found a VB script file 'FixSingleSelect' in that community which
changes some settings (so far I understand) and now it works.

Thanks a lot and best regards.
